Coach: Matt Carlino (1st year)
Last year: 7-7
Key returnees: Jared Fadding, Sr.; Andy Consolati, Sr.; J.T. Brown, Sr.; Devyn Olds, So.
The Wildcats are young. Carlino is in his first year as the head coach, and Fadding, Consolati and Brown are the only upperclassmen on the entire Wildcat roster.
There are four sophomores, seven freshmen, two eighth-graders and two seventh-graders on the Wildcats' roster.
Fadding, Consolati and Brown are a pretty good first three for the Wildcats, but the emergence of Olds will boost Lee's chances.
As a freshman, Olds finished second in the Berkshire Classic at Stockbridge Golf Club. Chad Alibozek, who graduated from Hoosac Valley this spring, won the tournament with a 7-over-par 78. He was the only golfer to break 80, but Olds was right there with him, finishing three shots back.
"It's pretty cool to come that close to one of the best players that has played in high school in a long time," Olds said at the time.
He finished his 18 holes in that event with back-to-back birdies. That assuredly introduced Olds to the county golf community.
According to Carlino, "our 5 and 6 players will be younger and playing in matches for their first time."
Ultimately, Carlino said Lee's goal is to make the Western Mass. Division III tournament.
