Coach: Christopher Polidoro (2nd year)
Last year: 13-2
Key returnees: Ryan Grande, Sr., Nick Martin, Sr.
In Polidoro's first season as a varsity coach, the Generals claimed the North in 2012 with four solid players.
He'll have his work cut out for him, this season, though, as two players from last year are gone. That leaves Grande and Martin leading the way. Polidoro said those two players are steady and will help develop some of the younger guys.
That will be key because the Generals need some players to step into new roles. With Jake Mathews and Adam Brickle on the team last year, there was really only one open spot. Now there are three.
A trio of juniors -- Austin O'Neal, Jerry McDonough and Denis Cooney -- and five sophomores -- Shane Aitken, Thomas Symanski, Chris Tracey, Ryan Jacoby and Conor McDonough -- will duke it out for the right to one of those spots. Whoever can step up the quickest will be the first to find his name in the lineup. Polidoro is confident the young guys will step up to fill the voids left behind.
The North should be tight again, so if the inexperienced guys can learn and adapt quickly, Pittsfield should be right back in the thick of it.
