Coach: Don Dagnoli (7th year)
Last year: 11-4
Key returnees: Matt Lawrence, Sr.; Nick Trombley, Jr.; Nick Bator, So.; Nick Boulger, So.
The Blue Devils had quite the turnaround last season, posting an 11-4 mark and finishing third in Western Mass. just two seasons removed from a winless campaign.
Two big reasons for the solid season was Alex Boulger and Lawrence. Boulger graduated, which leaves Lawrence as the clear No. 1. Many believe he has a legitimate chance of being the best in the county in 2013. With the Blue Devils playing their home matches this season on the course Lawrence's parents own -- Stamford Valley Golf Course -- he's already got an advantage.
But Drury won't survive with just one outstanding golfer. No need to worry there, as the Blue Devils return three other starters. Trombley, Bator and Nick Boulger all gained a tremendous amount of experience playing every day last year. Factor in another spin through the Berkshire Classic and a Western Mass. appearance and the junior and two sophomores come into 2013 as seasoned veterans.
Drury will need that experience to hold the fort with a roster that boasts just eight players -- that leaves three for the junior varsity team. A combination of senior Joseph Levanos, juniors Doug Sigsbury and Alex Candiloro and freshman Ethan Mekdeci will play in the fifth and final slot.
Dagnoli is looking to see improvement from the last batch of players to give Drury a little bit more depth.
