It's a rebuilding year for Finnegan and the Wildcats, who advanced to the Western Mass. Division III tournament last year. They lost in the quarterfinals to Granby, a victim of Lenox en route to the Millionaires' Western Mass. title.
The Lee freshmen and sophomores are going to have some on-the-job training. Two of the younger players Finnegan is counting on are sophomores Kate Delsignore and Sarah Winston.
Midfield was a strength for Lee last year with Eileen Dooley, Moriah McKenna and Steph Young. This year, Laudon will be anchoring the midfield. Finnegan said Laugon is tenacious and has a great sense of the field.
Lee should be pretty strong defensively, with seniors Hontas and Nicole Belliveau back to see plenty of time on the pitch. Finnegan said they both have speed and grit - to key attritubtes for being a tough defender.
Senior captain Holmes did not play last year because of an injury. Finnegan said she's counting on Holmes to be a defensive stalwart with her outstanding leadership and aggressive play.
With three seniors on the back line, the Wildcats will be waiting for the midfield and forwards to sync up. Victoria Murphy's 12 goals are gone, but if the scoring can be spread around, Lee could be a team to keep an eye on.
