The Drury boys soccer team will look to several underclassmen to make an impact for the team this year.
With turnout for the soccer team dwindling over the years and a lack of a full junior varsity team this season, players will be looked upon to contribute sooner than usual.
The Blue Devils add six new underclassmen to the team, but Caproni said returning freshman forward Meehan will be one of the key contributors on offense after receiving playing time as an eighth-grader last year.
Junior Sully Boland, who spent time at forward last year, will be shifting to defense and should provide some stability on that line.
Caproni said his seniors came to practice with great attitudes and have been working well with the incoming eighth-graders.
Drury graduated most of its tallest players off last year's roster, but some of the speed stayed. The Blue Devils will need to utilize body positioning and well-timed runs in the box to win head balls.
The focus heading into the season has been to improve technique and ball control. If the Blue Devils can improve on their ball possession, look for improvement from the team.
