Coach: Camilo Bermudez (2nd year)
Last year: 9-6-2
Key returnees: Sean Ryan-Kut, Sr., F; Shaun Knapp, Sr., MF; Matt Waltermire, Sr., D.
The Hurricanes are out to build on a successful first season from second-year coach Camilo Bermudez.
After inheriting a two-win team, Bermudez injected the program with new ideas and energy, leading to a seven-game turnaround and an appearance in the Western Mass. Division II tournament.
This season, the Hurricanes return eight players with varsity experience and look to mix in new players to an already strong nucleus.
The Hurricanes will be strong at each level of their formation, with senior forward Ryan-Kut and midfielder Knapp returning - having scored eight goals apiece last year. On the back end, defenseman Waltermire anchors the defense.
Hoosac looks to prove that last year was not a fluke, Bermudez said.
With the strong chemistry between Knapp and Ryan-Kut, look for a more aggressive style from the Hurricanes. Last year, they let the opponent come at them and tried to absorb the surge with numbers.
They waited for a counter-strike opportunity, and tried to take advantage of it. This new, more aggressive style may pull the Hurricanes out of their shell and let Knapp and Ryan-Kut dazzle more regularly.
Bermudez said his team is out to prove that they belong with the big boys in the Berkshires.
