Coach: Tom Bona (1st year)
Last year: 9-9-0
Key returnees: Josh Budaj, Sr.; Dillon Carr, Sr.; Conner Little, Sr.; Evan Lemire, Sr.; Shane Fuller, Jr.
Bona looks to bring a new approach and culture to the Hornets program in his first year with the green and white.
Bona is working to familiarize himself with his new team and will be looking to his core of upperclassmen to lead by example. He credited senior captains Budaj, Carr and Little with providing leadership as he tries to set the tone for his first season.
On offense, Bona said juniors Fuller and Jon Leal will be looked to for an offensive punch along with Budaj. Fuller tied for the county assist lead with 11 last season.
Bona plans to deploy more of an attacking formation than the previous regime. He's ramping up the intensity of practice to allow his players to play aggressively for longer periods of time. Conditioning is key, Bona said, and he's looking for players that run well.
In addition to improved conditioning, Bona said he wants his team to focus on ball control. As the Hornets head into a new season with a new scheme, Western Mass. or state vocational playoffs could be in the future for McCann.
