The Mounties appear to be loaded as they return several key players to a team that won 16 games and earned a spot in the Western Mass. playoffs.
They do have holes to fill, though, and it will take a group of players to replace the production of Mount Greylock's all-time leading scorer, Nathan Majumder. One player who will contribute on offense is midfielder Benni McComish, who returns after a strong freshman season. The sophomore was second on the team last year with 10 assists.
Dils said the experience McComish gained last year should help the young player grow. Also returning to the midfield will be Kershaw.
At forward, the Mounties return Eric Hirsch, the team's top returning scorer who will look to add to his scoring totals (5 goals, 4 assists) from 2012. The team's defense might be its strength, with two starters returning to the back line in Taylor Carlough and Dave Majetich, and the addition of Jake Foehl, who played in the midfield last year. His ball-moving skill should help the Mounties' transition game.
Dils said he has a fairly young team, and early in camp they are still trying to become comfortable with each other and some of the new systems he is trying to install. Even with the youth on the team, Dils said he is looking forward to their growth during the season.
