Coach: Jesse Carpenter (16th year)
Last year: 5-10-3
Key returnees: Nick Tomich, So., M; Sage Angell, Jr., F; Alec Blume, Sr., M; Andrew Krom, Sr., M; Adam Derwitsch, Jr., D.
Coach Jesse Carpenter is counting on a more experienced midfield and an upperclassman on the front line to lead his team in a positive direction in 2013.
The Eagles won just five games a year ago, but lost only four players - all defenders. The returnees accounted for 95 percent of the scoring in 2012.
Tomich will look to avoid a sophomore slump in the midfield this season. He finished tied for eighth in the county in goals last year with 12. Angell was right behind with 10, tied for 11th. Each now has another year of experience to draw upon, so their numbers may go even higher this year.
One aspect the Eagles need to improve on is stringing passes together (no Eagle broke the top 20 in assists). That has a good chance of coming through, as the Eagles bring back three midfielders - Blume and Krom are both seniors.
Their time with Tomich and Angell last year can mean only better things for the Eagles this season.
With what has the making of a powerful offensive attack, a trip to the Western Mass. tournament seems like a real possibility.
