Coach: Paul Phelps (6th year)
Last year: 4-11
Key returnees: Matt Rabasco, Jr.; Quinton Cookis, Sr.; Alex Carusotto, Sr.; Nick Turner, Jr.; Steve Davila, Sr.
Phelps looks for Taconic to compete with the middle of the pack in a talented and tough North Division that wasn't kind to the Braves in duals last fall.
Rabasco, the Braves' best runner last season, is expected to be a top-10 runner in each race for the Braves.
He's also Taconic's top returning Western Mass. runner, having taken 27th place in last year's Division I meet at Northfield.
"We need to close the gap between him and our second runner," Phelps said.
That gap between Rabasco and the next-fastest returning Brave was almost 2 minutes at Western Mass., but smaller in the county meet at BCC.
Rabasco wasn't alone at sectionals. Turner ran as a sophomore and Cookis and Davila ran as juniors. They are the runners most likely to catch up and be those next scoring runners for Taconic.
The next step for the Braves will be qualifying a runner - or runners - for the state meet.
