Coach: Chuck Higgins (10th year)
Last year: 4-8
Key returnees: Justin Makuc, So.; Ken Edwards, Fr.; Eilya Dempsey, So.
The Eagles are another young team in Berkshire County, which - aside from Wahconah - seems to be the norm in the South Division. Mount Everett's roster has no seniors and just one junior.
Dempsey, who joined the Eagles roster halfway through last season, is expected to be the top runner. Higgins sees Makuc, Edwards and newcomer Malik Hogan running as a pack behind Dempsey.
"He's been running well in practice," Higgins said. Higgins doesn't see the abundance of youth as a negative. "For some, it's their fourth year [running]," he said. "They just develop as they get older."
Makuc's steadiness could be quite beneficial to the Eagles. "He's not up and down or anything," Higgins said. "You know he's going to run well."
The goal for this fall at Mount Everett is to reach the .500 mark. Higgins sees Lenox, Monument Mountain, Pittsfield and Wahconah as solid teams his team will face.
