NORTH ADAMS -- Willi am Goddard, 22-year-old son of Mrs. Elnora Goddard of 23 1/2 Frederick St., has been promoted to airman first class. Now stationed at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, God dard enlisted in May, 1960, and received basic training at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, Texas. He was then sent to Amarillo Air Base in Amarillo, Texas for further training in fuel supply. WILLIAMSTOWN -- Carl Lawrence of 60 Spring St., has been notified that he passed the Massachusetts State Board of Pharmacy examination. Mr. Lawrence has been employed at Hart's Drug Store on Spring Street since last July. He is a graduate of the Albany College of Pharmacy.

ADAMS -- Hoosac Valley High School students Sheila Wellspeak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wellspeak of 123 Commercial St., and Aaron Lawson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Lawson of 21 Water St., have been designated Com mended Students in the 1988 National Merit Scholarship Program. They will each receive a letter of commendation in recognition of outstanding academic promise.
NORTH ADAMS -- Richard Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Lewis of 146 Kemp Ave., received a bachelor of science degree with honors in electrical engineering technology from Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is a 1987 graduate of Charles H. McCann Tech nical School.

CHESHIRE -- In Cheshire Youth Football, the Cheshire Chargers shutout Lanesboro 28-0. The Chargers had two 100-year rushers -- Eric Chipchase and Jeremy Pierce. Blocking for Cheshire were Kai Chee, Travis Manning, Dalton Larabee, Tyler Kruti ak, Matt Zieminski, Andrew Heath, Mike Fillion and Adam Brassard.
NORTH ADAMS -- On Sept. 29 at Joe Wolfe Field, about 200 youths competed in the annual Children's Road Race as part of the Fall Fol iage Festival. Top finishers were Austin Dean, Aubrey Rum bolt, Logan Rumbolt, Am ber Girard, Connor Willi ams, Amanda Ramsdell, Chase Preite, Tanelle Ciempa, Christopher Grandchamp and Fallon Preite.
