ADAMS -- An essay on the theme "Why I Want to Go to College" has won Margaret Herrmann of 57 Quality St. the first phase of a nationwide teen-age baking contest, entitling her to participate in a regional bake-off Nov. 23 in Avon, Conn. Miss Herrmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Herrmann, is a junior at Adams Memorial High School. ADAMS -- Winners in the poster contest held by the Adams Free Library in observance of Book Week were an nounced by Abbie Sullivan, acting librarian. First prize winners wee Mary Dabrowski and Stella Petronick. Second prize winners were Marilyn Baker and Linda Sniezek.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Helen Aitken has been named assistant director of Special Func tions for the Williams Col lege Food Service De partment. She has been at Williams for more than four years as manager of the Faculty House/Alumni Cen ter, used for meals and functions by college departments, Williams alumni and Faculty Club members.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Five Mount Greylock players and two McCann Hornets were named to the 1987 Kosior League football team, selected by the coaches. They are Brian Gill, Jamie Bolotin, Ryan Lapidus, Shawn Flaherty and Tom Over baugh, from Mount Greylock, and Paul Kupiec and John Horn, from McCann.
