ADAMS -- Two Adams young women, who were graduated in 1961 from Adams Memorial High School, received the Burbank School of Nursing cap at ceremonies in the auditorium of the Burbank Nurses' Home in Fitchburg. They were Virginia Jzyk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Jzyk of 12 Weber St., and Janice Zagraniczny, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zagraniczny of 12 Cross St.
STAMFORD, Vt. -- Robert Van Steemburg, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Van Steemburg of Stamford, will leave for Fort Jackson, S.C. on Monday for six months active Army training. He has been a member of the North Adams National Guard unit since Oct. 10, 1962. He will undergo basic training at Fort Jackson.

NORTH ADAMS -- John's Barbuto's three goals and Rob Stack's three assists helped the Williamstown Savings Bank Canadiens to a 4-4 Pee Wee tie with the Patricca Construction Kings. Heidi Syrett had the other goal and an assist for the Canadiens. Ian McArthur, Adams Jones, Chad Anderson and Matt Trottier scored a goal apiece for the Kings. Brock Whalen had two assists and Kevin Lesure one.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Peter Ticconi Jr. has joined the development office staff at Williams College as director of planned giving. His major responsibility is to work directly with alumni and friends to encourage creative gift opportunities which will help increase the college's

ADAMS -- One former selectman and one former selectman's candidate announced they will take out nomination forms on Monday for the upcoming election. Edward MacDonald, who sat on the board for one term in 1997, said he will campaign again for a seat on the board, while Vicki Sue DeMarsico will vie for the position one more time.
CLARKSBURG -- Local residents have been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile a quality point average of 3.0 or better. Local students are Kate Allard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Allard, a member of the class of 2003, and Nicole Lora, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Silvio Lora, a member of the class of 2006.
