WILLIAMSTOWN -- Pvt. John Lindley, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lindley of 14 Simonds Road, is home on a 20-day leave, following recruit training at Parris Island, S.C., and advanced infantry training at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Pvt. Lindley enlisted on Dec. 27 in the Marine Corps aviation program. On completion of leave, he will report to Memphis, Tenn., to attend one of the 25 Aviation Technical schools there. STAMFORD, Vt. -- The Stamford Fire Association elected trustees and officers at its meeting Monday night. Named to the Board of Trustees were Dr. Robert Costine, Robert Cutler, Jacob Schubnel, Howard Sherman and Ira Whitney. Mr., Sherman was elected president, Mr. Cutler, vice president and Mr. Schubnel, treasurer. Arthur Caron was elected corporation clerk.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Pat Maher and Irene Fressola combined for low gross of 93 to win a 2-ball, best-ball tournament at Taconic Golf Club. Shirley Posner and Marian Mulroy took second gross with 94. Ann Laliberte and Norman Freedman paced the net category with 68. Mary Boisvert and Ella Graves shot 69.
READSBORO, Vt. -- At a recent meeting of the Readsboro Republicans, three delegates and three alternates were elected to attend the Republican State Convention on May 21. Elected were David and Elenore Dally and Arne Henriksen. Alternates elected, in case one of the regular delegates cannot attend the convention, are Albert Singer, Donald Mac Williams and Barbara Coe.

ADAMS -- Amber Mitchell will represent Adams Post 160 American Legion at the Massachusetts Student Trooper Program. The programs consists of two one-week live-in classes at the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree. Mitchell was selected because of her leadership, scholarship and strong interest in pursuing a career in criminal justice.
NORTH ADAMS -- Jamie Haring, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Haring of North Adams, has been recognized for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Roll Award winner by the U.S. Achievement Academy. She attends Conte Middle School and will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy Official Yearbook.
