NORTH ADAMS -- A North Adams young man who enlisted in the Air Force last July has been transferred from one base to another in Germany. He is Airman 3c. Robert Wood, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wood of 35 Folsom St., and a member of the 601st Tactical Control Squadron. He is a radar operator in the 601st which coordinates activities of Army ground forces and Air Force operation. WILLIAMSTOWN -- A new patrolman on the Williamstown Police Department was introduced to the Selectmen by Chief Joseph Zoito Jr. He is William Manson of 509 East Main St., North Adams, who was added to the force provisionally pending the availability of a civil service eligible list in October.

LANESBOROUGH -- Navy Seaman Recruit Sean Murphy, son of Pamela Murphy of Lanesborough, has completed recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During his eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields. Murphy joined the Navy in January 1988.
ADAMS -- Marine Sgt. Mark Sebastino, son of Janet Strek of 403 Harbor Road, recently deployed to the Republic of Korea with 3rd Marine Division on Okinawa. During the deployment, he will participate in exercise Team Spirit, an annual exercise designed to improve the combat readiness of Republic of Korea and United States forces. Sebastino joined the Marine Corps in September 1983.

NORTH ADAMS -- Some physics students at Drury High School have built an early bridge to success by placing fifth and sixth in the state in a nationwide contest developed by the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Under the direction of Drury Physics Teacher John Richards, Mark Oliveri, Matthew Racette, Alcie Bullett and Chris Peters, placed fifth and sixth in the competition.
NORTH ADAMS -- Christopher Kalicki, 17, a member of Boy Scout Troop 88, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting. Son of Ellen and Scott Kalicki of Franklin Street, he is a senior at Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown. He has been active in Scouting since 1992.
