NORTH ADAMS -- Staff Sgt. Robert Goff, son of Lillian Goff of 1 Cady St., has been selected Outstanding Maintenance Man of the month in the 461st Bombardment Wing at Amarillo Air force Base in Amarillo, Texas. He was selected in recognition of his exemplary conduct and performance of duty. Sgt. Goff joined the Air Force in 1954. WILLIAMSTOWN -- The board of trustees of Williams College has approved one promotion and two reappointments. Dr. Arthur Zilversmit, instructor in history since 1961, has been promoted to assistant professor of history. Dr. George Freeman was reappointed as assistant professor of mathematics and Dr. John von Szeliski was reappointed as assistant professor of drama and associate director of the Adams Memorial Theater.

NORTH ADAMS -- Donna Choquette has been appointed as customer service officer at the North Adams Savings Bank. She is an authorized licensed sales representative for Savings Bank Life Insurance and began working at the bank in 1970. She replaces Norma Delisle who elected early retirement.
NORTH ADAMS -- Donohue Olds edged Altiere’s 13-11 in Stuart Schouller League baseball. Heath Rarick helped the winners with a triple and a single. Steve Livernois and Dan LaCosse each had a pair of singles. Hitters for Altiere’s were Andy Stuebner, Dave Daloia, Chris Caproni, Trevor Andrews, Chad Walker, Scott Northcutt and Joey Vanuni.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Alana Gauthier, daughter of Michael and Donna Gauthier of North Adams, a member of the junior class at Mount Greylock Regional High School, participated in the 16th annual Art All State event at the Worcester Art Museum. To participate in this event, the young artists go through a long and selective process that begins in the fall. The students who are nominated submit two pieces of art, a self portrait and a written application.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Capt. S. Rush Filson, USMC, son of Brent and Magalis Filson of Williamstown, has taken command of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, located in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Filson joined the Marine Corps in 1993 and has served as a rifle platoon commander, weapons platoon commander and rifle company executive officer at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
