NORTH ADAMS -- Army Staff Sgt. Henry Frazier, son of George Frazier of North Adams, took part in a massive display of missiles, artillery and engineer equipment in honor of the President's visit to Hana, Germany, June 25. Sgt. Frazier is a squad leader in Company C, 1st Armored Rifle Battalion in Germany. He entered the Army in 1943 and was stationed at Fort Benning, Ga., before arriving overseas last August. ADAMS -- Two Adams Army officer candidates, Armine Heinz Jr. and Ronald Lubowicz, are undergoing summer training at Fort Devens. Cadet Heinz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Heinz of 45 Commercial St., will be commissioned next year upon graduation from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt. Cadet Lubowicz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Lubowicz of 17 Hagerty St., will receive his commission next year upon graduation from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester.

NORTH ADAMS -- Seaman recruit Robert Mazzrillo Jr., son of Sandra Mazzrillo-Navom of North Adams and Robert Mazzrillo of Mosier, Ore., completed basic training June 17 at the U.S,. Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill., where he is stationed. He graduated in 1987 from Drury Senior High School.
NORTH ADAMS -- Grandchamps beat PNA, 95-53, in the North Adams Men's Summer Basketball League. Neal George led the way for the winners with 21 points, followed by Glenn Tatro and Paul Gaudreau with 19 points each. Chad Chenail chipped in with 16. Tom Matusyck's 20 points led the PNA effort.

NORTH ADAMS -- In Northern Berkshire Women's Softball league action, Gringos beat McDonalds/Cafe Hair, 8-6. Mary Scanlon went 3-for-4 for the winners. Erika Cheesbro, Missy Parisien and Stef Howard all went 2-for-4. Donna Benoit picked up the win on the mound. For McDonalds/Cafe Hair, Lisa Williams, Brenda Grant, Julie Wetherelle and Kristen Allard all went 2-for-3.
NORTH ADAMS -- Two Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts faculty members have received the Board of Trustees Faculty Lecture Award this year. Dr. Thomas Byrne, assistant professor of psychology, shares the honor with Dr. Roselle Chartock, professor of education. Byrne joined MCLA in 1998 and Chartock has been with MCLA since 1986.
