NORTH ADAMS -- North Adams Green Drinks, a gathering of people interested in conservation and environmental issues, will be held at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the Freight Yard Pub.
At 6:30 p.m., there will be a presentation by Ed Stockman on labeling genetically modified foods (GMOs). The United States and Canada are the only two industrial nations that do not require mandatory labeling of genetically modified foods.
Stockman is a biologist, organic farmer, former NOFA/Massachusetts organic extension educator and an anti-GMO educator. He gives GMO presentations throughout New England and runs Summit Farm in Plainfield. He is the co-founder of Massachusetts Right To Know GMOs, and will share updates on the national and statewide movement for GMO labeling, and how people can take action to declare the right to know what’s in food.
Green Drinks in North Adams is sponsored by the Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) and Northern Berkshire Transitions. For more information, contact Jane Winn at BEAT at jane@thebeat
