50 years ago today

NORTH ADAMS -- Three members of the Drury High School foreign language department attended a state-sponsored workshop on modern foreign language in Pittsfield yesterday. Attending the workshop, held at Pittsfield High School, were Edmond Trudeau, Nate Sondrini and Janet Lijeron. NORTH ADAMS -- Three men from North Adams have been awarded patented at Sprague Electric Co. Among them are Donato Dagnoli for a plastic film capacitor. Gerald Lebert and Norman Schulze were jointly awarded a patent for a flexible plastic, mounting capacitor cushion.

25 years ago today

NORTH ADAMS -- Cynthia Hill of Cheshire was recently appointed acting manager of the North Adams branch of Berkshire County Savings Bank. She replaces Denise Giroux, who is now a personal banker at the main office in Pittsfield. Mrs. Hill joined he bank on Oct. 31, 1977, working for the mortgage department.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Nominations are being accepted for the sixth annual Faith Scarborough Community Service Award, which honors the "range of interest, devotion and high skill that Mrs. Scarborough showed during her many years of service to the town."

NORTH ADAMS -- In recent North Adams Youth Basketball action, Greylock Club defeated Stanley’s Lumber 22-4. Troy Hartlage scored 14 points and Kirby Williams chipped in with four for Greylock. Megan

CHESHIRE -- Jacquelyn Tietgens, daughter of Peter and Christine Tietgens of Cheshire, has been named a referral counselor for the Saint Michael’s College women’s center for the spring semester. Tietgens is a first-year student elementary education and psychology double major at the liberal arts Catholic college in Burlington, Vt.
