WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williamstown Youth Center’s annual Snowfest fundraiser has netted a little over $7,000, according to Executive Director David A. Rempell.

Rempell said Wednesday that the amount is similar to the level of funds raised last year and will go toward the nonprofit organization’s operating budget.

"The big thing was that everybody seemed to have a great time, and the spirit of community was very evident," he said about the event, which was held Feb. 5.

While closer to $20,000 has been raised during Snowfest in prior years, there has been a decrease in donations during the Youth Center’s capital campaign for a new building, he said.

"Since we started the campaign, as expected, the amount raised through Snowfest has been less. A lot of folks who made annual contributions for Snowfest have committed pledges to the campaign," he said.

Currently, $4.26 million has been raised during the campaign, and a groundbreaking for the new facility is scheduled for March 15.
