STAMFORD -- Barry Brazeau, son of Mrs. Muriel Drake Harvey, has begun his basic training in the Army at Fort Dix, N.J., after enlisting May 25 at the recruiting station in North Adams. Under the Army’s "Choice, Not Chance" program, high school graduates select the specific school of their choice.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Richard Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harwood Jones of 45 Arnold St., has enlisted for three years in the United States Army. Mr. Jones enlisted for the Counter Intelligence Corps under the Choice Not Chance program and will now undergo eight weeks of basic training. After a two week leave he will report to Fort Holibard, Md., to begin his C.I.C. training.

NORTH ADAMS -- Elaine Burdick of North Adams and Donald Girard of Adams received the Appalachian Trail District Award of Merit in ceremonies at the annual dinner May 8 in Dalton. The award is given for noteworthy service to youth. Ms. Burdick is assistant district commissioners to Cub Scout units in the Northern Berkshire area. Mr. Girard has been a Scoutmaster for Troop 38 in Adams since 1970.
ADAMS -- Jennifer Trimarchi, daughter of Jean Trimarchi of Notch Road and John Trimarchi f 18 Hoosac St., received the bachelor of arts degree with departmental honors in anthropology during commencement exercises at Vassar College. While at Vassar, she was chosen for an

ADAMS -- Charles Kelly of Clarksburg, a real estate broker associate at Steepleview Realty, has received his broker’s license for New York state. This will allow Kelly to list and sell properties in New York also. Licensed in Massachusetts since 1962, he was associated with Milanesi Realty for 30 years.
ADAMS -- The American Legion Auxiliary will hold its 57th Annual Massachusetts Girls State June 16-21 at Bay Path College, Longmeadow. Haley Lawson, daughter of John and Barbara Lawson of 3 Manners Ave., and Candace Morey, daughter of Jonathan and Deborah Morey of 65 Center St., juniors at Hoosac Valley High School, have been selected by Adams Unit 160 to be its representatives.
