WILLIAMSTOWN -- Seven people were taken to the hospital after two motor vehicles collided in front of the 1896 House on Cold Spring Road (Route 7) on Wednesday afternoon.
Ann Palmer, 51, of North Adams, and four juveniles who were in her car were taken to North Adams Regional Hospital, while Peter Milesi, 30, of North Adams, and his sister, Danielle, 17, who was a passenger in his pickup truck, were taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Palmer was being treated in the emergency department as of 8 p.m., and Milesi and his sister had been treated and released as of 9 p.m. Information about the status of the children was unavailable.
Police Officer Shuan William said everybody involved in the accident was alert and responsive at the scene, and all appeared to have non-life threatening injuries.
"Some individuals were transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure due to the severity of the accident," he said.
Five ambulances -- three from Village Ambulance Service and two from North Adams Ambulance Service -- responded to the accident, as well as the Williamstown Police Department and the Williamstown Fire District. Massachusetts State Police was also called in to assist with managing traffic around the scene.
William said the severity of the crash was such that Palmer had to be freed from her vehicle.

The accident was reported at about 4:45 p.m. While traffic traveling south on Cold Spring Road was detoured around the scene through a parking lot, vehicles traveling north were stopped by State Police at the intersection of Cold Spring Road at the Taconic Trail (Route 2). Cold Spring Road was closed for about 30 minutes.
