NORTH ADAMS -- The Tefft brothers Richard and Robert, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tefft of Elder Avenue, are back in school today after an eventful trip to New Mexico and a stay at the national Boy Scout ranch, Camp Philmont. Richard, a Grade 8 student at Freeman School, and Robert, a sophomore at Drury High School, are both Eagle Scouts and members of Boy Scout Troop 33. NORTH ADAMS -- Harry Urban of 655 Mohawk Trail, a supervisor for the Northern Berkshire Manufacturing Co., a Sprague Electric Co. subsidiary, has been promoted to foreman. Northern Berkshire Manufacturing Co. makes rubber stamps and printing plates. Mr. Urban joined the company in July, 1961.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Two skaters from the Christmas Brook Figure Skating Club competed in the Cranberry Open Competition held Aug. 21-23 in Bourne, Cape Cod. Alison Behr was third in first figure, first in second figure freestyle and third in preliminary. Tara Dudek was fifth in first figure and fifth in preliminary.

NORTH ADAMS -- Specialist 4 Patrick McCarron, son of Eugene and Carol McCarron of 61 Tyler St., has received his third Army Achievement Medal while serving in West Germany. The Achievement Medal is awarded to soldiers for meritorious service, acts of courage or other accomplishments. Mr. McCarron is a medical specialist with the 68th Armor Division.

ADAMS -- At Forest Park Country Club, Chad Rusek had a 14-stroke victory over junior champion Justin Pinsonneault to win the Championship Division title. Rusek had rounds of 73-69-66 for a 208. In the Women’s Gross Division, Bev Lewis won her first title with a 36-hole score of 177. The Senior Gross title went to Dick Laing with a three-day total of 240.

NORTH ADAMS -- The 12th annual Cookie Bowl canoe race was held on Sept. 6. Local racers who fared well were Jim Dami, Fred Thompson, Harry Turner, Terry Coyne, James Whittum and Eric White of North Adams; John Tremblay, Bonnie Fachini and Adam and Joe Gwozdz of Cheshire; Bruce Duquette and Mike Lahey of Adams; and Ken Ostrowski and Michelle Racine of Clarksburg.
