NORTH ADAMS -- Joseph Bianchi, of 23 Newark St. in Adams, has been named foreman of the industrial oil as sembly department of the Brown Street plant of Sprague Electric Co. Bianchi joined the company in November, 1951 and in 1956 was promoted to supervisor. He had previously work for several years for Brightwater Paper Co. NORTH ADAMS -- A young North Adams Naval Reservist who reported for active duty July 18 is now undergoing nine weeks of basic recruit training at the Great Lakes (Ill.) Naval Training Station. He is Michael King, son of Mrs. Frances King of 366 Eagle St., and a June graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. During training he will receive tests and interviews which will determine his future training and assignments.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Deerfield Machine team won the 1987 baseball championship in the North Adams Minor League. Members of the team are Mark Klein, Asil Cash, Darryl Demarsico, Kelley Gor don, Karl Engwer, Brent Wien cek, Mike Baran, Peter Green bush, Tracey Rick ert, Don Rey nolds, Dan Rickert, Jill Gordon, Jason Russell, Paul Sherman, Brian Heideman and Mike Burns.
NORTH ADAMS -- The Transcript recently hired Richard Young as copy desk chief and promoted Margaret Button to the position of Lifestyle Editor. Mr. Young previously lived in Charlottes ville, Va. and worked on the staff of the Thomas

CLARKSBURG -- Roger Boucher of North Adams re corded a hole-in-one at North Adams Country Club on Aug. 31. He aced the 143 yard, par 3 second hole using a 6-iron. The shot was witnessed by playing partners John Segala, Jane Bryce and Bill Bryce. Boucher now has two hole-in-ones.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Two local golfers wrapped up first-round play Monday in the state Senior Championship being played at Woodland Golf Club in Auburndale. Frank Espos ito, who plays out of Waubeeka Golf Links is currently in a 10-way tie for 21st place. Taconic Golf Club’s David Wilson sits in a 13-way tie for 47th place.
