CLARKSBURG -- Six members of the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department qualified for diplomas from the state of New Hampshire Saturday by attending an all-day training school for fire fighters at Meadowood Drill Yard in Fitzwilliam, N.H. They are Raymond Bissaillon, Fred Perry Jr., Robert Bona, Donald Moon, Milio Maselli and Joseph Duffy. STAMFORD, Vt. -- Scott Van Steemburg won several ribbons in the Deerfield Valley Farmers Day Horse Show held Sunday in Wilmington. He won first in senior Western horsemanship, first in Western pleasure horse, first in Western trail horse, first in Western senior horsemanship, second in musical chairs and third in open Morgan and horse judging.

ADAMS -- A student from Adams and another from Clarksburg were among recipients of 19 merit scholarships awarded by Big Y supermarkets at a recent reception held at Storrowtown Tavern in West Springfield. Among those honored were William Eichorn Jr. of Adams and William Morocco of Clarksburg. They each received a $500 scholarship.
NORTH ADAMS -- Kimberly Daub is one of 15 Colgate students taking part in the University's fall term Venice study program. The program consists of study in archaeology, history of Venetian art, and the Italian language. A member of the Colgate Class of 1989, Ms. Daub is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Daub of 121 Versailles Ave.

ADAMS -- Army Pvt. Robert Michael, son of Cindy Michael of Myrtle Street, has graduated from basic combat training at Port Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and practice in drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, and special training in human relations.
NORTH ADAMS -- Wayne LoPresto, vice president of True North Financial Services will lead the 2002-2003 Northern Berkshire United Way campaign. LoPresto is a long-time member of NBUW's leadership team and is widely known for numerous community roles, recently as president of the Northern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce.
