WILLIAMSTOWN -- Richard Pierce Jr., manager of the Berkshire Travel agency, will sail Saturday on the S.S. America for Cobh, Ireland. For the next two weeks he will be on an inspection tour of hotel and tour operations in Ireland, Holland, France Austria and Switzerland. He will return to Williamstown on Oct. 7. NORTH ADAMS -- An thony McBride of Adams was elected vice-chairman of the McCann School Committee and Katherine Vallencourt of Williamstown was elected treasurer. Mr. McBride fills the post vacated by the resignation of Adams Committee man James Urquhart Jr. Mrs. Vallencourt takes over the position vacated by another Adams committeeman, Ed ward Zabawa.

NORTH ADAMS -- Twelve local young women will participate in the Fall Foliage Scholarship Pageant Saturday at Drury Senior High School. They are Michelle Sweeney, Lynn Thomas, Angela Shart rand, Jennifer Rotolo, Becky Bushee, Kristi Mastroianni, Simone Bachand and Allison Gleeson of Drury High School; Kim Kupiec of McCann; Kellie Molleur and Beth Gazaille of Hoosac Valley; and Tracie Bailey of Mt. WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Mount Greylock boys’ soccer team kept rolling Thursday, using two goals apiece from Shezad Bruce and Ben Crosky to upend Taconic 5-0. Mathias Bartels notched the team’s other goal. Crosky, Ben Jaffe, Joe Jacobsohn and Nate Herr all had assists.
CHESHIRE -- In Cheshire Youth Football, CYC Blue upended Cheshire, 28-8. Scott Bailey led the defense in the loss with seven tackles, while Hunter Gaylord had six. Jonathan Zappore, Jay Kruti ak and Zack Larabee also had four tackles. On offense, Nate Alibozek threw a touchdown pass to Gaylord. Bailey ran in the conversion.
