CLARKSBURG -- The award of Eagle Scout, highest rank in Boy Scouting, was presented to two members of Troop 62. Gary Dickinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Dickinson of East Road, and Bruce Bona, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bona of River Road, were accorded the honor. ADAMS -- Gordon Guild of 8 Plunkett Lane has been promoted to airman, second class, in the U.S. Air Force on Okinawa. The son of Mrs. Rachel Vanier of Adams and Gordon Guild of Hinsdale, he enlisted in the Air Force for a four-year tour of duty, July 18, 1961. He had basic training at Lackland Base, Texas, then was sent overseas.

25 years ago today

NORTH ADAMS -- Howard D’Amico of 19 Bracewell Ave., a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Navy Recruiting Service. The award recognized Chief D’Amico’s "meaningful contribution in promoting mutual respect between the community and the U.S. Navy." Chief D’Amico served a total of 42 years in the U.S. Air Force, active and reserve.

SAVOY -- The Hill Town has two new assessors as Kenneth LaPlante and Richard Noble have been appointed by selectmen to replace Edwin Wilk and Everett Newlands, who resigned earlier this week. Mr. LaPlante and Mr. Noble were sworn in during Wednesday’s selectmen’s meeting. They will be up for election next May.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williamstown Soccer Club crushed Pittsfield Brewery 5-1 in recent West State Soccer League action. WSC had goals from Stu Bannister, Josh Kotin, Austin Lehn, Adam Hildabrand and Bob May. Assists went to Chris Buffuto, Hildabrand, Danny Currie and Lehn.

POWNAL, Vt -- Army Pvt. Seth Bailey, son of Clyde Bailey of Pownal, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky. During the nine-week training, he received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, and Army history, traditions and core values.
