NORTH ADAMS -- Seven young riders and their mounts were prize winners in the annual Top-o-Hill Horse Show in Pittsfield. Randy Jane Cro sier of Heartwellville, Vt., took three first place prizes and one second; Donald George of North Adams took a first and second; Lawrence George took a first; Karen Dooley of Cheshire took a first prize; Pamela Littlejohn took two second prizes; Olivia Wood of Cheshire took a third; and Thomas Clayton of Cheshire took a third prize.

NORTH ADAMS -- Four Northern Berkshire leaders of 4-H clubs are among 14 in the county who will be honored at the Annual Berkshire 4-H leaders’ dinner at the Consoli dated School in Richmond. Mrs. Paul Herrmann of Adams and Mrs. James Mason of Hancock will receive gold clov er awards for 10 years of service as volunteer club leaders and Mrs. Einar Oleson of Flor ida and Law rence Herron of Williamstown will receive silver clover pins for five years of service.

ADAMS -- Monique Gajda, of 7 Woods Ave., was honored recently at an Air Force ROTC awards ceremony held on the Daniel Webster College campus. She was awarded a Air Force pilot slot at the ceremony. She is one of only 10 wo men in the United States to be placed. Ms. Gajda is a junior at the college, majoring in avia tion management/flight operations.

has been on the corner of Eagle and Liberty Streets for 80 years, it will be the scene of a grand opening on Saturday. The grand opening will be a celebration for the new owners, Michael and Jennifer Dowling of 124 N. Holden St., who purchased the store three weeks ago from the former owner Madeline O’Neil.

NORTH ADAMS -- The St. Francis of Assisi Rosary Soci ety held its opening session for the 2002-03 season on Oct. 2 at the North Adams Country Club. The new slate of officers are Kay Crockwell, president; Dot Paserbiac, vice president; Judy Nimmons, treasurer; Deb bie Howland, secretary; and Lorraine Leonard, publicity.

CHESHIRE -- Daniel Walsh of Cheshire will be honored with the 2002 "Labor Person of the Year" award by the Berkshire Central Labor Council, for his 36 years of ser vice with the blue-collar workers of General Electric, Lock heed Martin and General Dynamics. Walsh has worked his way up from a Steward in 1985 to chief shop steward in 1994, to business agent in 2000.
