NORTH ADAMS -- A city man was arrested for alleged drunk driving and a woman was taken to the hospital as a result of two separate motor vehicle accidents Thursday night.
Adam Quimby, 33, has been charged with second-offense operating under the influence after the 2000 Toyota 4Runner he was driving crashed into a telephone pole on Pleasant Street, according to Police Sgt. James Burdick.
Quimby is scheduled to be arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court on Monday, he said.
Burdick said an officer had responded to a previous minor accident reported at the intersection of Pleasant and East Quincy streets at 7:24 p.m. The accident involved a 2012 Jeep Liberty and a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, he said.
At 7:27 p.m., the officer called in to the police station saying he needed more assistance because a car had come down the street and driven into a telephone pole, he said.
Another accident, which happened at about 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of Church and Ashland streets, sent a woman to the hospital.
Burdick said that while the accident was still under investigation, preliminary information stated that two vehicles were stopped on Church Street at the intersection, and the second vehicle came forward, hitting the first.
The first vehicle was a 2006 Toyota Tundra driven by Frank Torchia, of Adams, and the second vehicle was a 2011 Ford Ranger, driven by Lawrence Herron, of Lanes bor ough, he said.
