WILLIAMSTOWN -- James Agnew, naval aviation officer candidate and son of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Clarke Ag new of Berkshire Drive, is attending the 16-week course of the Naval School of Pre-Flight at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. The course covers pre-flight instruction and officer indoctrination subjects. NORTH ADAMS -- Three junior clerks in the Employ ment Security office have become eligible for promotion to senior clerk interviewer after taking state Civil Service examinations. They are L. Elaine Stone, Irmalee Trottier and Doris Benedetti, all of North Adams. Presently there are no vacancies for senior clerk interviewers.

ADAMS -- Barbara Zepka was elected president of the Cartier Club at its meeting Oct. 7. She succeeds Irene Clairmont. Re-elected were Ruth Bombardier, vice president; Theresa Phillips, treasurer; and Shirley Brown, secretary. Auditors re-elected were Marie Bourdon and Blanche Cunningham. Grace Lozinski was named to succeed Beatrice Bourdon.
ADAMS -- Nancy Finkel stein, president of the Mass achusetts Teachers Associa tion, has announced the ap pointment of Vincent Melito of North Adams to the MTA State Council on Human and Civil Rights. Mr. Melito is employed as a guidance counselor at Hoosac Valley High School in the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District.

NORTH ADAMS -- In Mon day Night MCLA Adult Hockey League action, Key West defeated Gringo’s 7-1. Jeff Duhamel led the winning effort with two goals and an assist. Mike Ouimet also had two goals. Nick Lopresto, Nick Whitman and Dan Mac Whin nie each had one goal. For Grin go’s, Josh Miller scored off a pass from Nick Bradley.
