NORTH ADAMS -- An investiture ceremony for six new members of Brownie Troop 13 and two new members of Girl Scout Troop 8, both of Johnson School. The new girls are Grace Vergunst, Marilyn Pratt, Heather Corsi, Patricia Charron, Rosemarie Nakutis and Janet Tremblay of Troop 13 and Anna Mae Volff and Darlene Blair of Troop 8. CLARKSBURG -- Awards were presented to nine Cub Scouts of Pack 62 last night by Cubmaster Forrest Sherman. Boys receiving Bobcat pins included David Young, Brian Cahoon, John Keizer, Keith Daub, David Ross and Michael Dix. James Coty received a Wolf badge, Robert Cook received a silver arrow point, and Alan Stalker received a Bear badge and a gold arrow point.

ADAMS -- Eight recipients will be awarded St. John Kanty Scholarships Saturday in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Attorney Alexander Cwalinski, vice president of the scholarship committee, will present the awards to Francis Dilego Jr., Monique Gajda, Linda Szewczyk, Julie Ann Charon, Paul Vigna, Robert Mendel, Pamela Charron and Jason Koczela.
CLARKSBURG -- Cub Scout Pack 62 of Clarksburg met recently. Duston Norcross and Christopher Gelinas were inducted to Bobcat, first rank of Cub Scouts. CHESHIRE -- Jared Decoteau, a senior at Hoosac Valley High School, has been named a Commended Student in the 2003 National Merit Scholarship Program. He will be presented a letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corp. The students are recognized for their exceptional academic promise.
NORTH ADAMS -- Four faculty members at Massa chusetts College of Liberal Arts have been promoted and granted tenure. Robert Bishop and Frances Jones-Sneed have been promoted to full professor, Alla Kucher was promoted to associate professor and Brian Fitzpatrick is an assistant professor.
