NORTH ADAMS -- A North Adams boy who enlisted in the Navy 21 months ago has been promoted from the rank of airman to aviation machinist’s mate third class at the Oceanea Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach, Va. He is Donald Courtot Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Courtot of 92 Richview Ave. He enlisted March 9, 1961 and had basic training at the Great Lakes (Ill.) Naval Training Station. ADAMS -- Anita Boibeaux, daughter of Helene Boibeaux of Woods Drive, has received word that she successfully passed the state board of examinations for registered nurses. She is a staff nurse at Pittsfield General Hospital where she graduated June 8. Miss Boibeaux graduated from Adams Memorial High School in 1959.

ADAMS -- Four students from Hoosac Valley High School were chosen to participate in the annual Western District Music Festival. Colleen Haddad and Tina Trbovic, an exchange student from Yugoslavia, were chosen to participate in the chorus. Mark Burdick, trumpet, was chosen for the jazz band, and Rachel Roberts, bass clarinet was chosen for the concert band.
NORTH ADAMS -- Rosemary Sarkis of 453 Walnut St., has joined Williamstown Realty as a sales associate. She is a graduate of the S.M.H. Realty School and a member of the Berkshire County Board of Realtors. She was employed for several years by H.&R. Block and recently was associated with Carriage

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Roger Boloton, a specialist in regional economics and planning, was a member of a National Research Council committee that wrote the recently published "Commun ity and Quality of Life: Data Needs for Informed Decision-Making." He has taught at Williams since 1966.
NORTH ADAMS -- Longtime North Adams native and key community figure George Fairs was awarded the Francis H. Hayden Memorial Award at the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce annual meeting. The award is based on exceptional leadership, personal sacrifice, intense community involvement, and overcoming obstacles to reach set goals.
