A White-breasted Nuthatch feeds on Black Oil Sunflower seeds at the feeder of a North Adams resident.
It is stocky with a large head, short tail, powerful bill and strong feet. Nuthatches are active, agile little song birds with an appetite for insects and large, meaty seeds.
