NORTH ADAMS -- Edmund Lemanski of 1428 South Church St. was appointed a permanent reserve patrolman on the local police force on Monday. He was the only person on the Civil Service eligibility list. Mr. Lemanski is employed as a laboratory technician at the Sprague Electric Co. ADAMS -- One Life Scout and three Star Scout ranks were presented last night at a joint Court of Honor held by Explorer Post 38 and Boy Scout Troop 38 at Notre Dame School. The Life Scout Award, second only to the Eagle award, went to Francis Bourdon. The Star Scout rank was achieved by William Swartzer, Daniel Sherman and Jeffrey Harrison.

NORTH ADAMS -- Wayne Wilkinson, president of Clay Corp., has announced that Jennifer Girard has joined the firm as vice president. She will graduate from North Adams State College in May with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in geography. She will be responsible for the planning and sales of Clay Corporation homes and land acquisitions.

NORTH ADAMS -- Airman Brent Hubbard, son of retired Army Lt. Col. James Hubbard of El Paso, Texas and Susan Chapman of 146 Walker St., North Adams, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. During the six weeks of training the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human

NORTH ADAMS -- A city man and his wife have embarked on a business venture that caters to the flooring needs of other small businesses. "Cave Services" floor care, owned and operated by Erik and Angela Thomas out of their North Adams home, specializes in stripping and waxing new or old vinyl, tile, linoleum and more for both residential and commercial customers.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Northern Berkshire YMCA Twisters gymnastics team competed Feb. 9 at the Hampshire Regional YMCA. At Level 3, Kate Hancock, Olivia Brasil and Missy Hake finished fourth, second and fourth, respectively, in their age groups. At Level 6, Shaun Provost and Blair Stickney took second and third, respectively.
