50 years ago today

NORTH ADAMS -- Two Northern Berkshire youths, both Marines, have landed in Okinawa for 13-month tours of duty with the 3rd Marine Division. They are Pfc. Joseph Sebastino, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Sebastino of 130 Bracewell Ave., and Lance Cpl. Robert Gilly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gilly of 16 Second St., Williamstown. WILLIAMSTOWN -- Six students will represent the Mt. Greylock Regional High School music department in the All-State concert in Springfield March 21, 22 and 23. Chosen as the result of auditions held throughout the state were tenors James White and David Peck; altos Gail Scott and Barbara Krizack; soprano Christine Talarico; and bass Jeffrey Jordan.

25 years ago today

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Sharifa Cady has been appointed the administrator of Williamstown Medical Associates, P.C. She comes to Williamstown from St. Petersburg, Fla., where she was the administrator for 16 years of a large multi-specialty group. At Williamstown Medical Associates she will be responsible for managing the 14-physician multi-specialty group.

POWNAL, Vt. -- Several Mt. Anthony students from Pownal were accepted in the District Band and chorus, which performed last week at the District Music Concert at the Leland and Gray Academy in Townsend. Corsetti, Sara Trudeau, Melody Pimental and Kristen Howard; bass clarinetist Michelle Fritz; and baritone horn player, Jodi Palmer. Jennifer Lewis was accepted for the district chorus.

10 years ago today

ADAMS -- Nathan Dzbenski of Adams was named to the dean's list at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA during the fall semester. To qualify for the dean's list a student must earn a grade point average of 3.67 or higher and complete at least 12 credits. Dzbenski is majoring in chemistry.

NORTH ADAMS -- Local students were named to the dean's list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. for the fall 2002 semester. Dean's list recognizes full-time students who maintain grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Local students are Joel Habel of North Adams, Maurico O'Connell of Williamstown, Eric Tekin of Lanesborough and Anson Adams of Pownal, Vt.
