WILLIAMSTOWN -- Dr. Edward Coughlin Jr. of Doctors’ Park, was elected chairman of the Massachusetts State Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons at the annual meeting at the Municipal Hospital in Springfield. Dr. Arthur Ellison, who is associated with Dr. Coughlin, served as chairman of the panel on ski injuries, and Dr. Richard Fabricius, also an associate of Dr. Coughlin, served on the panel of hand injuries. NORTH ADAMS -- Three boys were advanced to second class and one received a tenderfoot pin at a meeting of Boy Scout Troop 88 Friday evening at the First Congregational Church. Second-class badges went to Michael Norman, Ernest LaCasse and Bruce Shepley. The tenderfoot pin was presented to Michael Kirby.

NORTH ADAMS -- Airman Brent Hubbard, son of Susan Chapman of 146 North Walker St., and James Hubbard of El Paso, Texas, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force aircraft maintenance course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. During the course, students were taught aircraft maintenance fundamentals to repair and service one- and two-engine jet aircraft.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Kristin Areglado and Julie Ennis of Williamstown, accompanied by adult advisor, Carol DeMayo of Williamstown, have just returned from 4-H Ambassador Training held at the Massachusetts 4-H Center in Ashland. The training helps teens improve

CHESHIRE -- Five individuals from the Hoosac Valley girls’ swim team will head to Springfield College on Saturday for the Western Mass. Championships. They are Kara Senecal, Libby Ariazi, Renee Kruszyna, Danielle Wineberg and Natasha Skowronski. Matt Hockridge will take part for the boys.
ADAMS -- Daniel Maloney of Adams has been named to the dean’s list at Fitchburg State College. A student is placed on the list for the semester if an average grade of 3.2 or better is attained and the student is attending the college full time. Maloney is majoring in political science and working toward his bachelor of science degree.
