NORTH ADAMS -- Marine Master Sgt. Linwood Morse Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Linwood Morse of 121 Reed St., is presently engaged in amphibious exercises with the Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. He will be stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. on his return from the Mediterranean in July. POWNAL, Vt. -- Marcel Langlais, head of the Pownal Civil Defense special police detachment, has announced the enrollment of his group in the training course for special Civil Defense police units which will open at Molly Stark School in Bennington. Members of the Pownal CD police unit include Mr. Langlais, David Adler, Frank Haley, Francis Haley, Francis Sheridan, Harold Hicks, Fletcher Hall and Edmond LaBonte.

NORTH ADAMS -- Paul Harsch of Harsch Associates, has announced that Judy Morrissey of Williamstown has recently joined the sales staff in the North Adams office. She has been employed at North Adams Regional Hospital as the assistant director of volunteers since 1982. She is a graduate of the Lee Institute real estate school and is a member of the Berkshire County Board of Realtors.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Christmas Brook Figure Skating Club has spent the week savoring its medals in figure skating events at the Bay State Winter Games.

Winning first place medals were Liza Davis, Melissa Moon, Allison Behr and Hannah Booth. Winning second place medals

were Brooke Hardman, Julie Green, Shauna Quinn, Danielle Steele and Julie Sarrouf. Third place medals were won by Michelle Moon, Shannon Toye and Kimberly Holzer.

NORTH ADAMS -- Matthew Davis, son of Robert and Pauline Davis of North Adams, received his Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America, at the First Congregational Church.

He has been a Scout since he was six years old, starting as a Tiger Cub.

Davis graduated from the carpentry program at McCann Technical High School in 2002.

NORTH ADAMS -- Three local residents have been named to the dean’s list at Wheaton College in Norton. They are Kyla Hobbie-Welch, daughter of Thomas Welch and Lois Hobbie-Welch of Clarksburg; Serena Dassatti, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dassatti of North Adams; and Christian Gale, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gale of Williamstown.
