ADAMS -- Seaman Ronald Rousseau, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rousseau of 123 Commercial St., went by air to Vallejo, Calif., on Sunday and was scheduled to fly from there to Pearl Harbor to join the submarine USS Growler for a tour of duty in the Pacific area. Seaman Rousseau enlisted in the Navy in September, 1961 and received recruit training at Great Lakes, Ill. WILLIAMSTOWN -- Six students in the music department of Mt. Greylock Regional High School will participate in the Massachusetts All-State chorus at a concert in the Springfield auditorium Saturday. They are tenors James White and David Peck; altos Gail Scott and Barbara Krizack; bass Jeffrey Jordan; and soprano Christine Talarico.

READSBORO, Vt. -- Eight students from Readsboro and Monroe Bridge, Mass., participated in the fourth annual oratorical contest sponsored by Walter L. Case American Legion Post 29 in Readsboro. The participating students wrote essays on what the Constitution means to them. Winners were: First place -- Rebecca Plumb; second place -- Nicole Marks and Erin O’Hearn; and third place -- Allison Smith.
NORTH ADAMS -- A three-goal spurt in a span of about a minute in the third period helped the Northern Berkshire Pee Wee travel team o a 4-3 hockey win over Avon, Conn. Chad Anderson, Matt Trottier and Rob Stack combined for the goals. Aaron Chick

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Wanda Corn has been appointed as the Robert Sterling Clark Visiting Professor of Art History at Williams College. She comes to Williams from Stanford University, where she is the Robert and Ruth Halperin Professor of Art History. At Williams, Corn teaches an undergraduate course on "Transatlantic Modernism: Paris and New York in the Early Twentieth Century."
CHESHIRE -- Hoosac Valley High School won four awards at the annual Scholastic Press Forum on March 12 at American International College in Springfield. The school received awards for Best Literary Magazine for The Gallery; Best Editorial presented to freshman Jeffrey Filiault; Best Sports Article to sophomore Craig Field; and the school’s newspaper won an honorable mention for Best Overall Newspaper.
