NORTH ADAMS -- Airman John Dunsmore Jr. of the Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dunsmore of 28 Summit Ave., is now attending the Aviation Electronics School at the Memphis (Tenn.) Naval Air Station. He enlisted May 8 and received his basic training at the Great Lakes (Ill.) Naval Training Station. ADAMS -- Ten explorer scouts from Post 38 left this morning on a 575-mile trip to Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada, where they will canoe a number of the lakes in the park for seven days. Making the trip are Paul Exner, Daniel Sherman, Denis Hoye, William Swartzer, Robert Bourdon and Frances Bourdon of Adams; Paul Casey of Williamstown; Daryl Roy and Michael Ronan of North Adams; and Michael McConnell of Clarksburg.

NORTH ADAMS -- Francis Morandi Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Morandi of 126 Protection Ave., a June graduate of McCann Technical High School, has been nominated to Who’s Who in American High School Students for a second consecutive year. He has enlisted in the Navy and is now at Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Ill.
NORTH ADAMS -- Grandchamp’s Health and Fitness won the championship of the North Adams Men’s Summer Basketball League. Members of the team are Jerry Moorman, Dave Wood, Glenn Tatro, John Mulcahy, Mike Cardinal, Chad Chenail, Al Giorgi, Paul Gaudreau, Neal Giorgi and Curtis Hamilton.

ADAMS -- Donald Girard, Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 38, awarded the rank of Eagle to Douglas Tetreault on July 25 during a Court of Honor held at Camp Holy Cross in Goshen. He is the son of Jane and Allen Tetreault of 14 Melrose St., and he also received the Francis Alarie Award for Best Scouting Spirit.
NORTH ADAMS -- Leo Benoit threw a five-hitter for Bosley AC, in the 11-4 win over Bill Davis Painting and Roofing. Bo Valois went 4-for-4 for Bosley, while Chad Bolte, Joe Cantoni and Benoit each had a pair of hits. Glen Larabee, Chad Walker, Mike Nelson, Trevor Decker and Bill Brooks had the hits for Bill Davis Painting.
