POWNAL, Vt. -- Seven members of Boy Scout Troop 47 have been approved by Scoutmaster Joseph Danforth for Firemanship Merit Badges. The boys spent three evenings at the Pownal Center Fire House learning elementary fire prevention and firefighting. Scouts who earned the Firemanship Badge are John, James and Patrick Danforth, Peter Roy, Francis Haley II, Dean Dixon and Thomas Langlais. WILLIAMSTOWN -- Mrs. Thomas O’Neil and Donald Lucas, members of the Mt. Greylock Regional High School faculty, have completed courses at the 15th annual institute sponsored by the New England Association of Mathematics teachers at Boston College. The institute offered participants the opportunity to learn about new materials, hear from experienced teachers and exchange ideas on common problems.

ADAMS -- Pfizer is the 1988 Adams Babe Ruth League Champions. Members of the team are Bill Schrade, Dave Kalisz, Chad Carpenter, Todd Cormier, Todd Cairns, Bud Adelt, Jason Hayer, Steve Mott, Derek Charbonneau, Dan Kalisz, Tom Kozak and Shawn Wright.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- There was a tie for the top spot in the ladies’ member-guest tournament at Taconic Golf Club. Dee Garnish, Judy Lepel, Ann Laliberte and Eileen Shea carded 122, as did Betty King, Irene Belch, Peg Bedard and Ann Oxley. Third place went to Flo Wineberg, Ruth Shapiro, Shirley Posner and Shirley Gordon with 124.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- In the one gross score plus one net score per hole format, the team of Ed Sennett, Kevin Raines, Scott Racicot and Keith Giroux took first place in the Taconic Golf Club’s Men’s One Day Member/Guest event, with a score of 125. The team of Frank Lentine, John Lentine, Mike St. Germain and Richard Young placed second with a 130.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Dion Money Management has announced that Brandon Navom of North Adams has joined the company as an IT/marketing support specialist. He will work on a daily basis assisting with the design and execution of e-mails, network maintenance, database management and Web site maintenance.
