ADAMS -- Pvt. Richard Marko, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Marko of 25 Anthony St. will complete his six-months active duty with the U.S. Army Aug. 27. He is currently undergoing basic armor training at the U.S. Army Training Center at Fort Knox, Ky. He is a tank crewman. Marko entered the Army last February and completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. NORTH ADAMS -- A campfire on the shore of Windsor Lake at which more than 50 awards were presented last evening ended the eight-week season of Camp Stahom, the YMCA-sponsored day camp. The awards to the best campers for the final two-week period went to Mary Bishop in the 6 to 9 year old girls and Joanne King for the girls 10 and older, and to Alex Dougherty for the boys 6 to 9 and Richard Giroux for boys 10 and older.

NORTH ADAMS -- C&G Hair Design beat Englander Coachlines, 13-8, in North Adams Women’s P&R Softball. Nancy Bassi tripled and knocked in five runs, and Mary Paree rapped three singles for the winners. Pauline Ellsworth had to hits and took the win on the mound. For Englander, Sue Ameen singled twice and doubled and Jean Braman singled twice and tripled.
NORTH ADAMS -- Robert Moulton, president of The Spectacle Shoppe at 115 Main St., recently completed a factory course in the repair of hearing instruments which enables him to offer complete on-site facilities for hearing aid repairs right in his local office. He participated in the hands-on training course at the corporate headquarters in Orlando, Fla.

ADAMS -- Joseph Truskowski Jr., president of the Adams Co-Operative Bank, has announced that the bank has expanded its staff with the addition of two middle management positions. Nancy LaRoche has joined as a loan processing supervisor and Michael Prudhomme as a customer service supervisor.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Williamstown’s Kent Lemme won the 11th annual Sheriff’s Road Race Saturday, clocking a time of 33 minutes, 40 seconds in the 10-kilometer course. Jim Preite of North Adams came in third. Other Northern Berkshire finishers in the top 10 included Dan Oliver of Cheshire, Paul McKeever of Lanesborough and Bill Fitzgerald of Lanesborough.
