CLARKSBURG -- A Clarksburg boy who made an outstanding record during basic training after he enlisted in the Navy nearly a year ago, is scheduled to complete a 14-week course at the Naval Electrician’s Mate School at the Great Lakes (Ill.) Naval Training Station on Sept. 27. He is James Daub, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Daub of Middle Road, who currently holds the rating of fireman. The course he is completing covers the repair, maintenance and operation of all modern electrical equipment used by the Navy. WILLIAMSTOWN -- A Williamstown sailor has begun several months of duty in the Mediterranean. He is Seaman William Wiles, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Wiles of 7 Meadow St., a member of the crew of the nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser USS Long Beach. He enlisted in March 1961 and received his training at Bethlehem Ship Yards in Quincy.

CLARKSBURG -- Scott Whitney and Dick Syriac combined for 73 and First Division low gross in a one-day member-guest tournament at North Adams Country Club. Mike Durocher and Don Meiklejohn were second with 76. Tom Champney and John Barrett III captured low net honors with 60, followed by John Millis and John Mulcahy with 63.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Ed Budz is the 1988 Club Champion at Taconic Golf Club. Kim Chapman tied with Andy Budz for second. In the Junior division, Jeff Gazaille was first, Duffy Judge was second and Jeff Trimarchi was third. In the Ladies division, Gerry Baker came in first, Peg Daniels second and Comer Polak third.

NORTH ADAMS -- Sean Carollo, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Carollo of North Adams, has been awarded the 16th annual Ernest H. and Mary F. Rosasco Award. The Rosasco Scholarship was established by Mrs. Rosasco in 1986 and is awarded to a local high school graduate who is a participating member of St. Anthony Church and has academic excellence, service to the community and financial need. Carollo graduated from Drury High School and is attending Williams College.
NORTH ADAMS -- Ann Bullett, daughter of Alcide and Patricia Bullet of North Adams, is studying in Grenada, Spain, for the fall semester. A sophomore at the University of Massachusetts, she is a Spanish major. She is a 2001 graduate of Drury High School.
