NORTH ADAMS -- A North Adams man rode into the winners circle at the Eastern States Exposition Horse Show for the first time last night when his mount took a blue ribbon in the amateur to ride jumper event. Lawrence George of 651 Ashland St., riding "Shamrock," owned by his father, Harry George, also placed second in the New England-owned amateur stake. NORTH ADAMS -- Susan Brower, 16, a Drury High School junior, is one of the five finalists for queen of the Fall Foliage Festival. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brower of 60 Central Ave.

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Peggy Shannon has joined the Williams College Computer Center as a programmer-analyst. She comes to Williams from the University of Mass. at Amherst, where she worked as the computer lab coordinator in the geology department.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Arvin Murch has joined the Williams College development office as associate director of major gifts. Murch comes to Williams from Boston, where he was director of development at the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities.

CHESHIRE -- In Cheshire Youth Football Junior Division action, the Cheshire Chargers beat North Adams Silver, 26-0. Travis Manning led the Charger defense with nine tackles, while Ryan Poulton had six. Scoring touchdowns for Cheshire were Nate McGuire, Cody Ott, Nate King and Matt Zieminski.
CHESHIRE -- In Cheshire Youth Football Senior Division action, Cheshire beat North Adams 12-8. Dalton Larabee scored the first touchdown and John Lucido scored the second. Ryan Joppich rushed for 95 yards. Defensively, Joppich led the way with nine tackles, while Tyler Krutiak and Steve Ferro each has six, and Ernie Brassard had five.
