ADAMS -- Virginia Bednarz, R.N., of 21 Francis Ave., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bednarz, has taken a position as a staff nurse at the W.B. Plunkett Memorial Hospital. She was graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield on Sept. 8. She graduated from Adams Memorial High School in 1960. WILLIAMSTOWN -- Diane Sprague, riding "Compromise Lady," placed fifth in the amateur-to-ride hunter stake at the Eastern States Exposition Horse Show. The horse, owned by her father, Robert Sprague Jr. of Stonebrook Farm, also took fifth in the working hunter class.

NORTH ADAMS -- American Legion Auxiliary Frank R. Stiles Unit 125 was represented at the bi-monthly Veterans Administration Voluntary Service advisory committee meeting Sept. 13 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northampton. Attending were Anita Lentine, Roberta Conrad, Alice Coody, Margaret Dempsey and Margaret Lessig.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- James Hodgkins, director of Dining Services at Williams College, has announced a promotion and two additions to the department. Martin Blake, a member of the food services staff for 12 years, has been promoted to manager of Driscoll Dining Hall. Susan King joined the dining service staff as an assistant manager of the Faculty House/ Alumni Center. Michele Neveu is the new assistant manager of Baxter Dining Hall.

ADAMS -- In Adams Youth Football action, the Adams Jets defeated North Adams Silver, 34-8. Jeff Popielarczyk led the scoring for the Jets with two touchdowns. Justin Pelczynski, Austin Alibozek and Mike Zieba all scored a touchdown. Mitch Despain, Craig Eggleston, J.J. Kolis, Dana Labbee and Alibozek played well on defense.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Baxter Member-Member event was held at Taconic Golf Club recently. The format was better ball of twosomes with men’s and women’s divisions. In the women’s division, low gross went to Dayle Sinderman and Judy Chapman with 163; followed by Gerry Baker and Lynn Parsons with 167. In the men’s division, low gross went to Kim Chapman and Alan Murray with 147, followed by Bob Kavanaugh and John O’Connor with 148.
