NORTH ADAMS -- John J. Dilego Jr., of 31 Blackinton St., a veteran of 15 years of National Guard service and commanding officer of Co. C, 2nd Battalion, 110th Armor of this city since it was organized last February, has been promoted from first lieutenant to captain. Notice of the promotion was received and announced by Lt. Col. John J. Shields Jr., commander of the battalion of which Co. C is a unit. NORTH ADAMS -- Thomas Hurlbut was elected president of the North Adams Little Basketball League last night at the Y.M.C.A. sponsored organization.
Norman Tatro was elected vice president, George S. Pierre was re-elected treasurer and Walter Rogowski, retiring president, Frank LeBeau and John Segala were chosen committee members.

NORTH ADAMS -- At the North Adams Public Library's appreciation reception on Wednesday, library trustees Barbara Giroux, Mary Boisvert, chairman, Joan Vincent and Isabel Jensen, along with Ruth Browne, former library director, recognized Ruth Waterhouse, a library patron who donated money for the library's new doors and two wing-back chairs.
NORTH ADAMS -- Starr Baker and Vincent Melito were among 100 state educators who attended and participated in the Massachusetts Teachers Association1988-89 Human and Civil Rights Conference held Oct. 22 in Marlborough.

NORTH ADAMS -- TOPS MA 187 met Oct. 13 with 27 members weighing in. The Best weekly losers were Ann Michalenko and Kathy Malloy for TOPS and Grace Wiliams for KOPS. The dime game winner was Heidi Braman and the calorie sheet winner was Williams.
CHESHIRE -- Hoosac Valley High School Class of 2003 member, Caitlin O'Grady qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Examinations with grades of three or higher. O'Grady is attending Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio.
