STAMFORD -- The appointment of Carl A. Taylor of Stamford, Vt., present scoutmaster of Troop 63 of that town, as district-commissioner for the North District of the Berkshire Boy Scout Council was announced today by the North District Committee. Mr. Taylor, 49 years old and himself a Boy Scout in his early days, was active in scouting for more than 21 years in Suffolk, L.I., N.Y., where he resided before he moved to Stamford a year ago. FLORIDA -- The Ladies Aid met at the home of Mrs. George Bushika with 13 women and 8 children present. Mrs. Helen Wheeler and Mrs. Maralyn Brown were hostesses. Mrs. Wheeler also led devotions. Mrs. Rosalyn Mullette and Mrs. Maralyn Brown are on a committee to study the possibility of having a cook book published containing recipes from the women in town, Mrs. Christine Mullette and Mrs. Grace Chinos are on the committee to aid Mrs. Justine Wheeler and her family.

NORTH ADAMS -- The Sons of Italy last Friday honored those who have been members for 50 years or more. Each received a 50-year pin and were feted at a wine and cheese reception at the St. Anthony Parish center. Honorees were Norma Carter, Anthony Abuisi, John Puppolo, Frances Sicilaino, Eugene Scerbo, Jennie Petrovice, Desdemona Morocco, Catherine Partenope, Doris Merlini, Aldo Leonasio, Harry Pierpan, Henry Puppolo, Mary Bellows, Phillip Bianco, Columbia Catotti, Michael Cirullo, Clemintina Daniels, Angelo Farinon, Angela Faustini, Norma Gallese, Nicolina Mancuso, Maria Mazzu, Ugo Melisi, Milana Merante, Rachel Montaga, Mary Piccolo, Austine Rogge, Emma Rosasco, Maria Rosasco, Maria Tallerico and Doris Yullano.
ADAMS -- At their August monthly meeting, the Alert Hose Company, Adams Volunteer Fire Department, elected David Kulpa as their foreman. The following people were also elected officers of the Alert Hose Company: First assistant foreman, William Gera; second assistant foreman, Edward Schmidt; secretary, Ralph E. Anthony Jr; treasurer, Joseph Koscinski, and trustee, Richard Ouellete.

ADAMS -- With two goals in the first 5 minutes, 30 seconds, and three in the first half, Hoosac Valley senior Pranam Lipinski made Friday's big game at Lee a little easier for the Hurricane boys' soccer team, which posted a 4-2 win.
NORTH ADAMS -- The McCann Tech cross-country team rounded out its regular season Friday with a pair of losses to Gateway (22-36) and South Hadley (15-50) at Gateway's 2.76 mile course. Hornet leads Bob Bak (19 minutes, 5 seconds) and Bryant Avery (19 minutes, 7 seconds) held their own against a pair of terrific teams and finished 10th and 11th overall, respectively.
