SPRINGFIELD -- The Springfield Community Chorus, under the direction of Ken Olsson, will begin spring rehearsals on Monday, Jan. 7. Rehearsals will continue each Monday night until concerts, which will be on Saturday May 4, at 7 p.m., at Ludlow Town Hall, and Sunday May 5, at 3 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, UCC, Springfield.
Olsson is a graduate of Ithaca College with a bachelor of music in vocal performance. He studied conducting, piano and voice. Olsson has experience directing, accompanying, and performing in operas and musicals.
The chorus welcome new members in all sections. Dues are $30. High school or college students are welcome, and full time students don’t have to pay dues. There are no auditions, but members are expected to sing accurately. The ability to read music isn’t necessary, but it is helpful.
The chorus will be presenting Mozart’s Requiem, as well as some other choral works by Mozart.
