NORTH ADAMS -- Though some towns in the region saw close to a foot of snow on Friday, temperatures will be close to 50 degrees Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Albany.
Luigi Meccariello, a meteorologist with the agency, said temperatures Friday night would dip into the teens, but Saturday and Sunday will be mild.
"This weekend, a high pressure system will move into the region and provide us with fair weather conditions," he said.
Saturday will be sunny with temperatures in the low to mid-40s, Meccariello said, and Sunday will be partly cloudy with temperatures in the upper 40s.
The mild temperatures will continue through Monday and Tuesday with a chance of rain, he said.
Meccariello said the heaviest accumulations occured Thursday night and early Friday morning, as the storm continued to move east.
"As we went through the morning to the early afternoon, the snow finally dissipated and moved out of the region," he said.
Meccariello said total accumulations in North County varied between 11 inches in Savoy and 6.3 inches in Williamstown.
Local police departments reported only minor motor vehicle accidents due to slippery road conditions. National Grid reported few outages with little disruption to service.
Communities close to Boston were harder hit and received between 18 and 24 inches, the National Weather Service reported. The agency reported the deepest snow in Holden (24.4 inches). At 1 p.m., the agency reported a record-breaking 10.2 inches of snow had fallen at Logan International Airport on Friday.
Snow from Thursday night led some local districts to cancel school, including Clarksburg Elementary, Abbot Memorial in Florida and North Adams Public Schools.
Other districts issued a two hour delay, including Adams-Cheshire Regional School District, Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School, Lanesborough Elementary, McCann Technical School, Pine Cobble School, Stamford Elementary and Williamstown Elementary. MCLA canceled 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. classes.
