NORTH ADAMS -- A 21-year-old city woman is scheduled to be arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court today on charges resulting from a hit-and-run accident at River and Brown streets Tuesday.
Ashley Peterson will be charged with leaving the scene of property damage and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in court.
On Tuesday, she allegedly hit two cars and fled the scene in her grandfather's 2007 Dodge Caravan at roughly 4:25 p.m.
First responders at the scene of the crash had to exctricate Sarah Harrison, 21, of Pownal, Vt., from a "heavily damaged" 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, and she was later transported to North Adams Regional Hospital for minor injuries.
Two passengers in the second vehicle struck, a 2012 Lexus, were unhurt and left the scene.
Police arrested Peterson within the hour at Houghton and Owens streets. Sgt. James Burdick of the North Adams Police Department was unable to comment Thursday as to why Peterson allegedly left the scene of the accident.
